FABRIANO, Italy – July 21, 2016 – Rekluse Motorsports rider Giacomo Redondi captured his first world title over the weekend at the 2016 FIM Enduro World Championship in Italy. Redondi is currently 86 points ahead of the field.
The Honda-RedMoto World Enduro Team member clinched the championship on the first day of the Italian GP. Throughout the weekend, Redondi notched two wins, bringing his consecutive win total to a record-tying 14. The CRF 450R rider joins David Knight as one of only two riders to achieve the mark and is unbeaten in 2016.
“Winning a world championship is amazing, but even more thrilling is doing it at a home race, in front of my home crowd, friends and fans,” Redondi said. “We’ve worked really hard to achieve this result and this weekend we realized a dream. Thank you to all who supported me in this incredible adventure.”
Redondi and riders on the Honda-RedMoto team run the Rekluse Motor Sports Core EXP Auto-Clutch, engineered and built in Boise, Idaho, U.S. Davide Soreca, who podiumed both days in Italy and is No. 6 in the standings, said the auto clutch assists in multiple capacities during enduro racing.
“When conditions get tighter, I do not have to worry about controlling the bike with the clutch or engine stalls,” Soreca said. “I can ride taller gears, getting the maximum traction possible.”
Rekluse President Sean Brown praised the cooperation between the two partners.
“We’re proud to be a part of this great achievement by the Honda-RedMoto team and Giacomo Redondi,” Brown said. “It’s great when people perform at the highest level with our technology, helping us advance our products and showcase the efforts of the Rekluse team. We’re excited Redondi and Honda-RedMoto team members’ performances continue the long line of championships won by Rekluse riders.”
The Honda-RedMoto team heads to the next round of the world championships Sept. 10 and 11 in Cahors, France, where Redondi will attempt to finish a perfect season.
