Step 5: Boyesen Engine Accessories

Keeping your thumper cool can be a tall order under most riding conditions. Boyesen’s Super Cooler Water Pump kit can make all the difference you might need, whether you’re a top level racer or a weekend warrior. Four strokes are commonly known for overheating under some circumstances, but generally speaking 2-strokes are not known for overheating, but could greatly benefit from Boyesen’s Super Cooler Kit. My project bike is going to be outfitted with this kit to ensure consistent engine cooling during those hot summer days we have here in the south. Another thought was riding in the sand in South Georgia or even late or early in the year when we are fighting muddy conditions, all of these conditions will place more load on the engine and cause me to abuse the clutch more. An abused clutch produces more heat.

Boyesen designed the Super Cooler to improve pumping capacity and smoothing the flow through the water pump itself. One of the first steps taken was to redesign the water impeller and that was achieved by increasing the surface area of the impeller blades by making them taller. By having more surface area with each revolution of the impeller more coolant is being circulated. The more coolant the water pump is moving through the radiators, the better chance you have of keeping engine temperatures under control.

Some of you may have never heard of cavitation, but it can occur by air bubbles traveling through the coolant which are mixed with the turbulence inside the water pump. Cavitation will reduce water pump output to the engines cooling system. To help reduce or even eliminate cavitation Boyesen improved on the casting process so the interior of the water pump housing doesn’t have any sharp edges or corners. Take a look at the two photos and you can see the difference. You will have 3 color choices: Black, Magnesium or Silver Vein.

Walking through the pits of any top level motocross event and my eye is always drawn toward to those trick looking case covers found on most of the “factory” bikes. Boyesen has made it possible for the weekend rider to add those same engine covers to their bike at a reasonable price. Some of the features offered with these covers are cast aluminum with a durable power coated finish and each mounting surface is machined and inspected to ensure a perfect fit. Both the Boyesen Clutch and Ignition covers come with Nitrile bound gaskets to ensure that you keep the crank case oil in on the clutch side and keep the water out on the ignition side. The Boyesen Ignition cover is a huge improvement over the stock plastic O.E.M cover. Note: 3 color choices: Black, Magnesium or Silver Vein.

Boyesen just offers some many great products and I have heard so much about the Boyesen Rad Valve that I just couldn’t do without it any longer. The Rad Valve offers maximum power achieved through air Intake, acceleration and distribution. Four key breakthrough factors make Boyesen RAD Valves the most advanced air intake system you can add to your 2-stroke bike!

1. The Gulp Factor

Your engine is a glutton for air. It will take over 200 “gulps” per second, at velocities over 500 MPH – if your intake valve will let it. The RAD Valve’s seamless, one-piece, precision casting and continuous aeroform surfaces ensure maximum flow velocities and instant, explosive movement of air particles the moment you turn the throttle. Result: An intake valve the size of your fist delivers air with the power of a tornado.

2. “Power Channeled” Charge

Integrated into the seamless inner chamber are 4-way aerodynamic directional dividers that distribute the angled charge evenly without flow loss. Each channel has its own unique Power Profile, scientifically shaped to produce instant, explosive movements of air. Result: Unparalleled performance.

3. “Intelligent” Dual-Stage Reed System

Standard equipment on each RAD Valve, Boyesen dual-stage, Pro Series Reeds have the superior ability to time themselves to the needs of the engine. You get maximum flow velocity across the entire RPM range, and at all throttle settings. Smoth. Sharp. Smart. Result: Full Spectrum power and throttle response.

4. There’s a Rad Valve Enginneered To YOUR Make, Year & Model

Each Boyesen RAD Valve is unique – tailor made to that model, year and displacement. While other aftermarket valves might change flange sizes or bolt patterns, they’re basically generic – and require you to irreversibly cut your intake boot to install it! But with the RAD Valve, there are no compromises in power, no modifications. Result: A true, bolt-on Power Boost.
